What is the difference between Interior Design and Interior Decorating?
Interior Design is the art and science of understanding human behavior in order to enhance the interior of a home and create more properly scaled, aesthetically pleasing, high functioning spaces. Interior Decorating is the furnishing and adorning of a space with both functional and decorative elements. At Boudousquié Interiors, we offer both depending on your needs.
Does Boudousquié Interiors have a specific design style?
At Boudousquié Interiors, we feel your home should reflect your unique personality and be filled with furnishings that best fit your lifestyle. We strongly believe a home can be both stylish and practical without compromising its beauty. So, does that mean we work with all design styles? No, we don’t.
Our designs are fresh, uncluttered, created with thoughtful intention, balanced with the use of high-performance finishes, and are brought to life with unexpected pops of color, and funky details. By definition – contemporary.
What is contemporary design? It’s ever evolving, with very few rules. It’s of-the-moment but offers lasting value. It’s a clean aesthetic, with boundless characteristics. It’s perfectly tailored, yet purposely filled with edgy components.
What’s does full-service design mean?
Full-service design means you won’t lift a finger. From inspiration to installation, we’ll handle all the tedious details, leaving nothing overlooked. This valuable service includes us making all product selections, coordinating, communicating and meeting with all tradespeople, procurement, installation and so much more.
When should I enlist the help of a designer?
The earlier you enlist our help the better. We will work alongside your architect and contractor to ensure your dreams are realized and no detail is missed. This is especially important for new construction and renovation projects.
It’s important to begin design plans as early as possible to keep your project and your budget on track. A contractor can’t give you a finalized price until he/she sees the design plans and can price out all of the necessary finishes and construction materials. The sooner we start designing, the less pricing surprises you’ll have down the road.
How does the in-home meet & greet work?
We travel to your home, spend 1-2 hours with you discussing your project, assesses the space(s), take notes, photos and measurements, determine a comfortable budget investment level, discuss realistic timelines and create a comprehensive design plan.
How much are design fees?
A design fee covers the service of design development, space planning, design planning, product selections, price gathering, sample gathering, design presentation creation, communication with vendors and tradespeople and design presentation execution.
Since each project is unique, we must view your space in person before determining your specific design fee. During our in-home meet & greet, we will assess all of your particular needs and create a design fee proposal that best complements your project.
How much does it cost to furnish an entire room?
Furnishing costs depend on the amount and style of your needs. At your in-home meet and greet, we’ll discuss your comfortable investment level and educate you on how far that will go. If your budget covers everything, great. If not, we will determine the best way to allocate your funds in order of priority.
How involved do I have to be in the design process?
This is your home. We value your opinions and want you to feel comfortable throughout the process. By enlisting us to help, you can rest easy knowing you don’t have to do any heavy lifting. With our vast experience and knowledge, we’ll take the reins, manage all the details and come to you for presentations and final approvals. This alleviates your stress and allows you get back to doing what you love most – spending time with your family.
How long will my project take?
Your timeline depends on your individual project scope and needs. A typical decorating project, inspiration to installation, can take a minimum of 16-20 weeks. If there are decision delays, special pieces we’ve ordered, or manufacturing/shipping hold ups, it may take longer.
New construction & renovation timelines will be determined by your contractor.
